“1st Gemona del Friuli International Online Classic Guitar Competition”

The associations “Un Blanc e un neri” and “La Casa Rotonda”, in collaboration with the Municipality of Gemona del Friuli and the sponsorship of the FVG Region, announce the “1st International Guitar Competition Gemona del Friuli”, which will be held from September 30th to October 15th 2020 via online.

The competition is open to classical guitarists of any nationality with an age limit of 35.

All prizes are subject to legal retentions.

A video of a maximum of 10 minutes must be sent for the first qualifying phase, indicating at the beginning of the video the name of the performer and the repertoire to be performed.

Subsequently, the contestants who advance to the final will be notified and must then send another video of a maximum of 20 min, with a different repertoire from the one presented in the first phase.
The video must be sent in the following format: mp4 or .mov, 720p HD.
The video must be made in a single fixed shot and cannot be edited.
It must be sent to the festival’s email address via a link to Drive, DropBox or WeTransfer.

The jury’s decision will be unappealable. The composition of the international jury will be communicated to the contestants via e-mail and on the Festival’s website, once the registration period has ended.

The registration period will end on September 20, 2020 or once there are 50 registered contestants. At that time, the registration form will be blocked from the website and it will be clearly indicated that the quota of contestants is full.

Contestants must attach the following documents:
a) Curriculum vitae and photograph.
b) Copy of their national identity card or passport.
c) Proof of payment of registration fees.

Participation in the competition implies the transfer to the Gemona del Friuli International Classical Guitar Festival of the rights of reproduction and distribution of the video material provided by the contestants, as provided for in the legislation on intellectual property, through the means deemed appropriate, all without any profit motive (Contestants’ data will not be transferred to third parties).


QUALIFYING PHASE (September 30th):

Video of a maximum of 10 minutes, with a free choice repertoire.
Videos must be sent to the competition after registration and in any case before 16:00 on September 30th.Videos will be uploaded by the organization to the Festival’s Youtube channel and on October 3rd the jury’s verdict will be issued, establishing a maximum of 8 finalists.

FINAL PHASE (October 11 to 15):

Video of a maximum of 20 minutes, with a free choice repertoire.
Videos for the final phase must be sent to the competition after receiving notification of advancing to the final and before 16:00 on October 11.
The jury’s verdict awarding the various prizes will be communicated on October 15th.


First prize: €2000 and Diploma
A concert at the next edition of the festival in Gemona del Friuli in 2021.

Second prize: €1000 and Diploma

Third prize: €500 and Diploma

Friuli Prize – Best classified of Friuli (guitarists resident or born in the region): €600 and Diploma
Special prize for the best classified guitarist under 21 years of age (not cumulative with
other prizes): €500 and Diploma

Audience Special Award – To the guitarist who gets the most likes in the videos of the final
phase uploaded to Youtube: €500 and Diploma

Accrediting diploma and €130 euros for the rest of the finalists.
